Four Parts ✦ of an Invitation Suite

In this article we’ll show you what makes a Full Invitation Suite – what are the different parts, what do the names mean and what are they for? We got everything covered for you in this Mini 101!

The Save the Date

The name basically says it – this card lets your wedding guests know which date they need to save if they want to come to your wedding. Although, we don’t always think that the first impression counts, it's a good chance to set the vibes for your festivity and let your guests know what kind of event they will attend.

You will usually find the following basic information on this card:
– your names
– the date of your wedding day
– an approximate indication of where your wedding will take place

The Main Invitation

This is the main part of a Full Suite and therefore its heart and soul. As you made the basic design decisions for your Save the Date card, this one should follow easily.

It can be challenging to accommodate all the important information on this card. However, we’d always recommend to keep it basic in order to not overwhelm your guests with too much information. It’s common to build a website with further information. Mentioning the web address on your Invitation card will keep your overall design clean and easy to navigate.

If you don’t want to take the digital route, you can opt for a Detail card that contains all the required information (see below for more info on that).

You will usually find the following basic information on this card:
– your names
– the date of your wedding day and the time of your ceremony
– the location of your wedding ceremony, plus the location of your reception (if different)

The RSVP Card

That’s probably the one you’ve might not heard about yet and we’d love to let you in on that little secret which involves these four letters – RSVP. It’s French and an abbreviation for »Répondez s'il vous plaît« which is a très chic way to say »Please reply«.

This card is send alongside the Invitation card and an envelope with your address on it. So, your guests can fill out the card and mail it back to you. By giving them a clear deadline you should have a number to work with when organizing your wedding event.

You will usually find the following basic information on this card:
– Those four letters or a another nice (but demanding) sentence to ask your guests if they will come to your wedding or not.
– a date by until when they should have answered you
– two response options

The Detail Card

It may be the last card described here but not the least important! As mentioned before you can use this card to showcase further important information for your guests. It is often called Info card as well.

As with all our designs, we like to keep this one simple by directing the recipients to a website. But that doesn’t mean you can’t go all-in. For us this card is a nice way to make the end result well-rounded.

You will usually find the following basic information on this card:
– a short text to lead your guests to your wedding website, plus the website address
or
– information concerning route descriptions, accommodations and whether there might be a shuttle service etc.
